What fits your shop?
Places to start, not an overall winner.
Budget is product-only, before shipping and tax.
New to powders? Start with the type, not the brand.
You don't need an overall winner.
Start with the ingredients you want, or match the type on a pack you already use. Then compare prices within that group.
- Looking for plant ingredients?
- Compare plant-based powders. Formulas vary, so check the ingredients and allergen label on the exact pack.
- Want to explore dairy powders?
- Whey & blends includes concentrates and blends. Isolate is a separate comparison category, not an automatic upgrade.
- Replacing a powder you already use?
- Match the label first. Use whey isolate or casein if that is what your pack says, rather than treating all dairy powders as interchangeable.
Price categories are not health recommendations. A lower cost per gram does not establish better taste, tolerance or quality.

A higher tub price. Almost the same protein cost.
The checked Canadian Protein isolate costs $10.00 more per tub than its concentrate. Per gram of protein, the premium is only about 1.6%. This does not establish that isolate is better for you.
Chocolate Milkshake / 1000 g versus Chocolate Milkshake / 1000 g. Product prices before tax and delivery; checked October 25, 2026.
The tub is the container.
The protein is what you're comparing.
All 12 checked offers, eight exclusions and how we compare
Part of The Protein Atlas.
Checked October 25, 2026. Partial coverage: 12 verified offers from 20 rechecked listings. Eight listings are excluded below. This is not a complete current ranking and does not establish Canada’s cheapest protein powder. Prices and stock can change after this check.
The useful comparison is the cost of protein in the package, not just the tub’s sticker price. We use CAD per 30 g of protein, calculated as price divided by total protein in the pack, multiplied by 30.
Twelve offers with sufficient evidence
Every offer below was checked in a rendered browser on October 25. Flavour, pack size and seller are part of the comparison. The order follows the original catalog, not a claim of overall rank.
Sale prices are the displayed one-time offer, not a promised ongoing discount. No conditional coupon was applied. The Myprotein 5.5 lb packs are approximately 2495 g; the selected package units and label serving counts control the calculation.
Check the purchase conditions
- Costco: the checked Gold Standard offer included standard delivery and was available in the observed delivery area. A valid membership is required. Neither the membership fee nor tax is included in the comparison. See Costco’s membership terms.
- Well.ca: free shipping on orders of CAD 35 or more before tax applies to most Canadian addresses. Remote and airstage exceptions can add charges. See Well.ca shipping.
- Canadian Protein: the Canadian page banner advertised free shipping above CAD 99. Costs below the threshold were not established. The lower subscription prices are not the one-time prices in this table.
- Myprotein Canada: the Canadian header advertised free shipping above CAD 140. Neither checked offer alone exceeds that threshold. Shipping below it was not established; generic delivery copy was not treated as a Canadian checkout quote.
- Amazon.ca: the included MuscleTech and Vega offers were sold and shipped by Amazon.ca. Free delivery was displayed, but delivery eligibility can vary. No subscription discount was applied and no checkout total was verified.
A lower product-only cost does not necessarily mean a lower delivered cost. For example, Myprotein casein’s $1.48 per 30 g excludes unknown below-threshold shipping, while Costco Gold Standard’s $1.72 includes standard delivery but requires membership. Choose for your dietary needs and actual basket, not an unqualified winner badge.
Eight listings excluded, not silently removed
| Original listing | Reason it is not in the comparison |
|---|---|
| Kirkland Vanilla 2.45 kg, Costco | Unavailable in the observed delivery area. Not a nationwide stock claim. |
| Vega Sport + Recovery Vanilla 1.86 kg, Well.ca | Listing says No Longer Available. |
| ON Gold Standard Double Rich Chocolate 5 lb, Amazon | Original link returns Page Not Found; exact replacement was not verified. |
| Myprotein THE Plant Protein | Selected pack/serving count and nutrition-table scoop weight do not agree. |
| Kaizen Chocolate 840 g, Amazon | Currently unavailable. |
| ON Gold Standard Isolate Chocolate Bliss, Amazon | Only third-party sellers were observed, including the other-offer drawer. Fulfilment by Amazon is not sale by Amazon. |
| Dymatize ISO100 Gourmet Chocolate, Amazon | An Amazon.ca-sold offer exists, but the selected size says 640 g while the label and title say 650 g. Exact pack identity remains unresolved. |
| Myprotein Impact Isolate | Generic nutrition says 25 g protein in a 25 g scoop and does not establish the selected 6 lb pack’s denominator. |
What changed from July
The July comparison remains a historical snapshot. This check withdraws its present-tense winner and discount-code conclusions rather than carrying them forward without support.
Four Canadian Protein rows now pin explicit flavours that July omitted. Myprotein casein and Impact Whey use explicitly selected 5.5 lb packs rather than July’s smaller formats. These changes improve current identity tracking, but they do not prove like-for-like price drops. The current partial set should not be compared with July’s full ordering as a rank-change measure.
How the arithmetic works
For Pure Protein Rich Chocolate: CAD 42.74 / (22 servings x 25 g protein) x 30 = CAD 2.33 per 30 g protein.
For Progressive Vanilla: the page states 850 g net weight, a 40 g scoop and 34 g protein per scoop. The calculated serving count is 850 / 40 = 21.25, giving CAD 81.89 / (21.25 x 34) x 30 = CAD 3.40. This is a derived count, not a claim that the label prints 21.25 servings.
Where package weight and serving count are stated but scoop mass is not, we identify the derived mass in the evidence. A plausible calculation does not resolve a contradictory label or prove availability.
October 25 evidence and exclusions (JSON) document all 20 outcomes. The July 3 historical dataset is preserved separately.
Questions before buying
Is this a complete current ranking of Canadian protein powders?
No. We rechecked 20 original listings on October 25, 2026. Twelve offers had sufficient current price, label, seller and availability evidence; eight were excluded. This is a partial comparison, not a claim to identify Canada’s cheapest powder.
Why is Kirkland whey missing from the comparison?
The Costco listing still displayed CAD 74.99, but the offer was unavailable in the delivery area shown during our check. That does not establish nationwide unavailability. An unavailable offer is not treated as a buyable recommendation.
Do these prices include delivery, tax or subscriptions?
The comparison uses listed one-time CAD prices before tax. Subscription and conditional coupon discounts are excluded. Costco’s checked offer included standard delivery but requires membership; other shipping terms vary by retailer, order value and destination.
Can I compare these numbers directly with the July ranking?
Not every row is comparable. Four Canadian Protein rows now have explicit flavours that July did not record. The two verified Myprotein rows also use larger, explicitly selected packs. Those are new comparison baselines, not evidence of a same-product price drop.
